Projects - Civil and Structural Design Project
Brittanic operate a timber yard covering an area of 10 hectares on reclaimed
land immediately behind the River Humber Flood Bank.
Our brief included:
-
Site Investigation to this landfill site.
-
Design of a full drainage scheme with 100% (final) impermeable area.
-
Timber Storage Building Design.
The
design of the drainage scheme relied on the utilisation of an outfall for
surface water into the River Humber. As the river bank in this area is a Site
of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) our negotiations were extensive and
agreements had to be reached with English Nature, the Environment Agency and
MAFF relating to the design and construction of the outfall structure on the
River Bank.
The
Timber Storage Building was designed to accommodate high racking to carry packs
of timber in a dry but ventilated environment. The building provides 7000m2 of
covered area and consists of a steel portal frame on concrete pad foundations.
